Garden State Parkway Interchange 109 Improvements

Improvements are being planned by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, which is currently finalizing data collection and developing and analyzing proposed improvement concepts. It is the NJTA’s intent to hold a public information center to present the selected concept and receive pubic comment/input in February or March 2015.

A diagram of proposed changes to exit 109 and areas around it (i.e. Newman Springs Road (rt. 520)), projected project costs, and a time line of dates related to the project can be found on pages 34-37 at

On February 28, 2014, the initial request for bids went out to a number of pre-qualified engineering firms for the GSP Interchange 109 Improvements Project.  The $7.4 million contract, to design a new interchange and replace four bridges that carry the Parkway over Newman Springs Road, was awarded to Stantec Consulting Services of Rochelle Park on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.  Additional information related to this most recent development and additional background information can be found here.
